Vol. 118 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Conditions.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that housing conditions in Clogheen, County Tipperary, are extremely bad, particularly in the matter of sanitation, and that the residents have made repeated requests without avail to the local authority to provide proper sanitation or to compel the landlord of the affected premises to do so; and, if so, whether he will take the matter up with the local authority.

I have no information in regard to the matters referred to, but am taking up the matter with the local authority and will communicate further with the Deputy in due course.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the houses in Church Road, Castlerea, County Roscommon, are still lacking in sewerage facilities; and, if so, whether he will arrange to have the necessary work carried out as quickly as possible.

Roscommon County Council, with my approval, have recently accepted a tender for the installation of sanitary services in the cottages at Church Road, Castlerea. Work on the scheme should commence shortly.
