Vol. 118 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - F.C.A. Car Allowances.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is now prepared to increase the car allowances payable to officers of the F.C.A. owing to the increased costs of insurance, repairs, petrol, etc.

The mileage allowances payable to officers of the F.C.A. who are authorised to use their own cars on official business are about to be increased.

Would the Minister ensure that those officers will not undergo the experience of officers of the L.D.F. who during the emergency ran cars at their own expense and, because of the penurious attitude adopted towards them by the Department became almost beggars in foolishly running these cars?

The answer I have given already is that the existing rates are about to be increased.
