Vol. 118 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - L.D.F. and L.S.F. Medals

asked the Minister for Defence whether it is essential for members of the L.D.F. and the L.S.F. to apply formally for service medals before they can obtain them.

Members of the former L.D.F., except those who are at present on the active strength of the F.C.A., must make formal application for the emergency service medal. Application forms and addressed envelopes are obtainable at post offices. In the case of the former L.S.F., my Department is responsible for the procurement of the bulk supplies of the medal, but the award of the medal to the members is a matter for the Minister for Justice. I expect that supplies of the L.S.F. medal will be available soon.

Mr. Byrne

Does that apply to the A.R.P. service?

A.R.P. services come under Defence. They must make application.
