As the planting season extends from September to April, I presume the returns for the financial years will meet the Deputy's requirements. The position is as follows:—
1947-48, 6,005 acres; 1948-49, 7,736 acres; 1949-50, 8,536 acres.
Indications are that in 1950-51 an area of 10,000 acres will be planted.
