Vol. 119 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leix Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether and to what extent the housing needs of Wolfhill and Ballyroan, Leix, are being attended to in the housing programme of the Leix County Council.

The position in regard to the housing needs of the Wolfhill area is as follows:—

2

cottages completed.

12

,, practically completed.

13

,, in progress.

15

,, under contract but work not yet commenced.

Total 42

cottages.

In regard to Ballyroan I understand that four cottages are at present in course of construction. I also understand that the council are satisfied that the 42 cottages at Wolfhill, in addition to a proposed scheme of at least 12 cottages at The Swan and the four cottages in Ballyroan, will meet the immediate needs of these areas.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state what progress has been made in carrying out the local authority housing scheme for Stradbally, Leix.

A draft lay-out plan for a scheme of 20 houses with water and sewerage services at Stradbally submitted by the Laoighis County Council has been approved.
