asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the acreage of land acquired to date for afforestation purposes in (1) Laoighis, and (2) Offaly, in the year ending March 31st, 1950, and the approximate acreage proposed to be acquired for the year ending March 31st, 1951.

The areas acquired since 1st April, 1949 are (1) 228½ acres in Laoighis and (2) 43 acres in Offaly.
It is not possible to forecast what areas will be acquired in the coming 12 months. Offers of some 5,500 acres have been received but that is no indication as to the area that will be acquired.
