asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether his sanction has been accorded to the proposals submitted by the Limerick County Council under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949; and, if not, whether he will ensure that the matter is given early attention so that work on river drainage, protection from flooding, etc., may proceed during the summer and autumn months.

The great majority of the schemes submitted by the Limerick County Council in their programme of works under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, have already been approved and decisions on the remaining schemes will issue in the near future. An interim grant of £20,000 has been notified and the council may select works up to this amount from the schemes which have been approved.
