Vol. 121 No. 16

Questions— Oral Answers. - Rearrangement of Holdings.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of the estate of the Land Commission, C.D.B. No. 100, County Galway (S.2992), (a) when rearrangement of the holdings will be undertaken; (b) whether satisfactory rearrangement can be effected without transferring some of the tenants elsewhere, and (c) how many applications for new houses are held up pending rearrangement.

The question appears to refer to the estate of E.J. Blake, S. 2992, and not to the estate of Caroline J. Blake, C.D.B. 100. It is not possible at this stage to state when rearrangement will be undertaken or whether this work will entail the migration of any of the tenants.

The answer to part (c) of the question is "none".

Does the answer to part 3 refer only to applications for new houses made to the Land Commission or is the Minister in a position to say whether applications under the Gaeltacht Housing Acts and the general Housing Acts are held up?

I cannot say about the applications for grants which may have been made by some of the tenants to the Housing Section of the Department of Local Government. Part 3 applies to applications for houses either to the Land Commission or to the Gaeltacht Services division.

I think the Minister's information about the Gaeltacht Housing Act is not up to date.

The Minister himself thinks it is.

I can give the names of the people who applied.
