Vol. 122 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Curragh Civilian Tenants.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state (a) the number of dwelling-houses occupied by civilians on the Curragh Camp; (b) the annual rent payable for each house so occupied, and (c) whether an additional charge has recently been levied on those tenants, and, if so, how the charge is computed.

(a) There are 27 dwelling-houses occupied by civilians in the Curragh Camp; (b) the rent in each of 26 of those houses is payable weekly as the houses are let on weekly tenancies. The remaining house is provided free of rent. In view of the number of houses involved I shall supply the Deputy with a list showing the address and the rent payable in each case; (c) there has not been any additional rent charge levied recently, but some of the tenants who held letting agreements inclusive of electric current are now being required to pay for current on the basis of consumption.
