Vol. 122 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pollution of Rivers.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether, in view of the fact that liquid matter is allowed to flow from the Mitchelstown Creamery into the River Cradoge and from thence to the River Funcheon, 400 yards away, polluting both rivers and poisoning fish, he will make representations to the management of the creamery to have this practice stopped.

My information is that the pollution to which the Deputy refers is not solely attributable to sewage from the Mitchelstown Creamery and that the creamery is willing to co-operate with the local authority with a view to reducing pollution of the rivers by the provision of an up-to-date sewage system for the area.
