asked the Taoiseach if he will state (a) the number of persons supplying milk to creameries in the third week of July in each of the years 1947, 1948 and 1949; (b) the total number of cows owned by such suppliers in each year, and (c) the total quantity of milk delivered to creameries in each year.

The information requested in the first two parts of the question is not available for the precise date mentioned but the numbers of persons supplying milk to creameries during the peak period of production in the years 1947, 1948 and 1949 were 80,092; 81,305, and 87,636 respectively. The numbers of cows kept by such suppliers were 508,901; 527,647 and 577,075. The total quantity of milk delivered to creameries in each of the same years was 154,202,440; 169,935,994 and 206,732,926 gallons respectively.
