Ceist:

199 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if a person (details supplied) in County Kildare qualifies for a higher education grant in view of the fact that he did receive partial grant for three years and did not take up this option in 1992; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Kildare County Council is the body statutorily entrusted with the administration of the higher education grants scheme in this case.

I understand from the Council that the person in question was refused a grant in accordance with the terms of the 1989 scheme in respect of his attendance at a post-graduate course in the 1993-94 academic year, as he had previously completed a post-graduate course.

I suggest the Deputy refer to the council for any further information he may require on this case.
