Vol. 123 No. 9

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Items Nos. 1, 2, 3, 6, 11, 10 and 8. Private Deputies' Business will be taken at 9 o'clock.

Is the Taoiseach now in a position to say when the Social Welfare (Insurance) Bill, 1950, will be taken?

I asked for a week, that is, until to-morrow.

I am sorry for rushing the Taoiseach.

I can assure the Deputy that he will not rush me. This Bill will be published when it suits us and not when it suits them.

Will the Taoiseach assure the Dáil that it will at least come before the Fine Arts Bill?

The Social Security Bill will take its proper precedence when we like and where we like.

It was to be circulated last summer, according to the Minister.

You had five years to do it and you would not touch it.

Can the Taoiseach say if the Government will give consideration to the very important motion standing in the names of Deputies B. Maguire, Cogan, P. O'Reilly, J. Flynn, Cowan and myself, concerning the serious consequences of the loss of the hay crop and if the Government would be prepared to give consideration to taking that important motion this week? If it was decided that such a discussion could not be fitted in to-day or to-morrow, would the House consider meeting on Friday?

I will examine the timetable and see if that can be done.
