Vol. 123 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rathmullen Pier.

Mr. Blaney

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state the cause of the delay in the commencement of the reconstruction of Rathmullen pier, and if he will further state the date on which this work will now commence.

There has been no avoidable delay in dealing with the project for the reconstruction of Rathmullen pier. A borings survey of the site has been completed and the preparation of plans is proceeding in the light of the information obtained from the survey. It is not, however, possible to say at present when the work will commence.

Mr. Blaney

Is it not a fact that in June, 1948, a letter was addressed to the Donegal County Council stating that if the council was prepared to put up £10,000 the work would commence immediately? That is two and a half years ago and we still do not know when the work will be commenced.

The county council has agreed to pay the contribution.

Mr. Blaney

They did two and a half years ago.

No, not then.

Mr. Blaney

They did.
