Vol. 123 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pro-Partition Propaganda.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that a British publication, Coming Events in Britain, is issued free to passengers and visitors at Shannon Airport, and that the December, 1950, number of this publication contains pro-Partition propaganda in an article entitled “Impressions of Northern Ireland”; and, further, if he proposes to take any steps to prevent the distribution of pro-Partition propaganda of this kind at the airport, and if he will make arrangements for the distribution free of charge there of literature giving accurate information of the true position of the six north-eastern counties of Ireland.

It is not correct that the publication mentioned is issued to passengers and visitors at Shannon Airport. It is distributed in transit, on the aircraft, to passengers travelling on one airline. Literature giving the facts about Partition has been available, free of charge, at the airport for some time past.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that it is not being distributed at the airport, if it is available, and will he take steps to see that it is?

I will have that matter looked into. I understand it is available.

If it is, it is not being distributed.
