Vol. 123 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Grant.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the reason for the delay in giving sanction to the application from Kells Urban District Council, County Meath, for a grant of £600 for the relief of unemployment in that town.

A grant of £500 from the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote was notified to the urban district council on the 1st August last subject to a local contribution of £100. The council's proposals for works under the allocation were received in the Department on the 30th November and have been examined in consultation with the town surveyor. One of the works estimated to cost £510 has been recommended to the Minister for Finance for sanction. The town surveyor is to submit further information in regard to the second work. There has been no delay in my Department in dealing with this matter.
