Vol. 124 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repair of River Banks.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is yet in a position to state when the repair of the river banks at Rossmanagher (D'Esterre estate), Sixmilebridge, will be undertaken.

The repair of the embankment at Rossmanagher presents many engineering difficulties owing to a recent and more serious widening of the breach. Expert advice and consultation as to method and machinery may be necessary before the Land Commission can reconsider the matter in the light of the present position.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Land Commission proposes to begin repairing the embankment on the Fergus at Ballynacragga, County Clare.

The embankments on the Fergus in the vicinity of Ballynacragga are in good repair. There is no embankment in Ballynacragga, and any flooding in that townland is due to neglect of the drains. The cleaning and maintenance of the drains is not a matter for the Land Commission.
