Vol. 124 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Letting of Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that grave dissatisfaction is being caused by the letting of lands held by the Land Commission pending allotment; and, if so, whether he will have a more equitable way of letting these lands devised so that local congests and small farmers may get an opportunity of securing grazing and conacre tillage on these lands.

No complaints of the nature suggested in the first part of the question have come to my notice. If the Deputy is aware of any cases which gave rise to grave dissatisfaction, and furnishes me with particulars, I will have the matter investigated.

To save the Deputy all this trouble and to assist the Land Commission and the Minister, would it not be advisable for the Land Commission and the Minister to give instructions to have posters displayed in some prominent place on the lands, say a fortnight before the letting takes place?

I understand that that is the procedure and that can be done.
