Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Holdings.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the total number of agricultural holdings in the Twenty-Six Counties and the number of these in (a) congested districts counties, and (b) other counties, the rateable valuation of which is (i) £4 and under, and (ii) over £4 and not exceeding £10.

The total number of agricultural holdings in the Twenty-Six Counties on 1st June, 1937, the latest date for which particulars of holdings classified by valuation are available, was 377,861. The number of these holdings in congested districts counties was 165,459, of which 51,227 had rateable valuations not exceeding £4, and 53,321 had rateable valuations above £4 but not exceeding £10. The corresponding figures for other counties were 212,402 for the total number of holdings, 59,849 for the number of holdings with rateable valuations not exceeding £4, and 35,206 for the number of holdings with rateable valuations above £4 and not exceeding £10.
