asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will indicate the terms of reference of the Prices Advisory Body set up by him under Section 3 of the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act 1946 (Continuance and Amendment) Act, 1950; and whether it is correct to state that the Advisory Body have been asked sympathetically to consider applications for increases in prices.
Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prices Advisory Body.
The terms of reference of the Prices Advisory Body are set out in the Prices Advisory Body Order, 1951, which provides that the functions of the body shall be to keep under review the prices of commodities and services and to advise the Minister for Industry and Commerce thereon in accordance with the Order. Any applications for increases in prices are referred to the Prices Advisory Body for a recommendation. I have made no request to the Prices Advisory Body for sympathetic consideration of applications for increases in prices.
