Vol. 124 No. 5

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prices Advisory Body Recommendations.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give particulars of the cases in which recommendations made to him by the Prices Advisory Body have been put into operation by directions given by him and, in each case, a synopsis of the reasons advanced by the body in support of its recommendations.

Recommendations made by the Prices Advisory Body have been put into operation by directions given under the Prices and Charges (Standstill) Order, 1951, in respect of increased prices for coal at Cork, Waterford, Drogheda, Balbriggan, Ardee, Skerries, Wexford, Dundalk, New Ross, and other areas, machine turf, turf briquettes, fertilisers, hosiery products, knitting wool and certain textiles. The recommendations to permit increased prices were based on increases in costs to the manufacturer or trader.
