The total imports of maize in the year 1950 amounted to 348,501 tons at an average price, c.i.f.; of £23 11s. 10d. per ton. This quantity included 64,059 tons specifically described as milo maize, at an average price, c.i.f., of £21 0s. 6d. per ton. The figures for milo maize must be regarded as minimal, as there is no separate heading in the Official Import List for this grain, and the importers may not in all relevant cases have fully described the item.
