Vol. 127 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clearance of Tree Stumps.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is correct that he has directed that the clearance of land from tree stumps is not to be undertaken under the land project.

Mr. Walsh

The answer is no. The procedure is to consider the circumstances of each case, such as the forestry and agricultural potential and the general user of the land.

Is the Minister aware that it has been stated to applicants that there is a general prohibition on clearing land for which a bulldozer is required merely to take stumps out, and that there have been cases in Kildare where there has been refusal. Will he ask his inspector in Kildare to look into the matter again, in view of his reply?

Mr. Walsh

Yes, if certain details are given by the Deputy.

I will give the Minister the individual cases.
