Vol. 127 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Financing of Government Expenditure.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will indicate the source from which he proposes to provide money in respect of current expenditure, if a supplementary budget is not to be introduced during the present session, and whether he intends to meet current expenditure by using all or portion of the Dollar Counterpart Fund.

As stated in reply to a question by Deputy D. Costello on 15th November, 1951, the manner of financing Exchequer requirements, both current and capital, for the remainder of the financial year is under consideration. As regards the second part of the question, the available £24,500,000 of Loan Counterpart moneys will fall far short of meeting even capital outgoings in the current financial year and cannot, therefore, be regarded as making any contribution towards current outlay.
