Vol. 127 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Company Law Reform.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any and, if so, what progress has been made into the examination of company law reform since his reply to a question on that subject on 17th July, 1951 (column 1625), and particularly whether there is any intention of the committee issuing an interim report and whether he has considered the feasibility of dealing in a preliminary way with the more flagrant abuses.

I am informed that the committee is proceeding as expeditiously as possible with the examination of company law reform, but that the subject is one of considerable complexity. The committee does not, I understand, propose to furnish an interim report. I have considered the matter referred to in the concluding portion of the Deputy's question but I do not think it would be desirable to prepare legislative proposals dealing with particular aspects of company law in advance of the receipt and examination of the report of the committee.
