Vol. 129 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Naás Boys' School.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what stage has been reached in the preparation of plans for the erection of a new boys' school at Naas.

The preparation of working drawings and specification for the erection of this school is in hands.

In view of the fact that these schools are in a deplorable condition and that the manager of the school has been seeking to have new schools erected, will the Parliamentary Secretary use his good offices to expedite the preparation of plans, the making of tenders, etc., so that a decent school can be provided for this town?

The preparation of the drawings will take a further two months, the preparation of bills of quantity two months, and the invitation of tenders and placing of contracts will also take two months—that is six months in all. I would also point out that the lease of the site has not yet been completed. There is some difficulty in this connection.

I think that has been cleared up now.
