Vol. 129 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Health Clinic at Rosslare.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the reason for the long delay in the provision of a health clinic at Rosslare Harbour; and, further, if he will state when he expects work on the clinic to commence.

The Deputy will remember that in a reply to a previous question on this matter on the 4th July last I informed him that a Compulsory Purchase Order for the acquisition of a site for this health clinic was made by the local authority in October, 1950, and an Order confirming the Compulsory Purchase Order was requested. An objection to the Order was made on behalf of the occupier of the site in question making it necessary to hold a public inquiry. As a necessary preliminary to appointing an inspector to conduct this inquiry, the local authority were asked on 20th January, 1951, to forward certain documents in connection with the Order.

These documents were received in my Department on the 25th October last and arrangements are being made and will shortly be completed for the holding of a public local inquiry in connection with the Order.

As I explained in reply to the previous question, once the acquisition of a site has been disposed of, the local authority may proceed with the erection of the clinic without further reference of documents to my Department.
