Vol. 129 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Commission on Emigration.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he has yet received the report of the Commission on Emigration and other Population Problems; and, if so, when the report will be made available to Deputies.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative and the second part does not, therefore, arise.

As the chairman of the commission stated longer than eight months ago that the report was being written, has the Minister any information as to whether the report has been completely written by now?

I cannot say. I was told the same thing as the Deputy has mentioned some few months ago.

Would the Minister be able to make inquiries to ascertain whether the commission has yet written the report?

I shall have further inquiries made.

May we take it that the commission itself has emigrated?
