Vol. 129 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Fuel Requirements.

Mr. O'Higgins

asked the Minister for Defence whether he will make arrangements to purchase the fuel requirements of the Army for this year from producers of hand-won turf.

Tenders for the Army's requirements of turf for this year will be invited by public advertisement. The detailed arrangements to be made for the supply of this fuel are at present under consideration.

Mr. O'Higgins

Will the Minister make it clear that the requirements will be filled by hand-won turf?

That will be a matter, probably, between the Department and the tenderers.

Mr. O'Higgins

That is what I asked the Minister.

That is the answer.

Mr. O'Higgins

Can the Minister not reply to the parliamentary question which I put down? I asked the Minister if he would arrange that the fuel requirements for the Army would be purchased from producers of hand-won turf.
