Vol. 129 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compensation for Jury Services.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state whether any decision has been taken on the subject of providing better compensation for jurors in respect of their service in the courts; and, if so, the nature of the decision or alternatively if steps will be taken to reduce the number of occasions on which jury service is required.

The examination of the subject referred to in the first part of the Deputy's question is proceeding and consideration will be given to the Deputy's other suggestion.

Is the Minister aware that his predecessor in office fiddled with this question for three years and that now both the fiddle and the patience of the jurymen are wearing out?

Like the Baltinglass Post Office.

I think the Deputy was behind a wall of glass.
