Vol. 129 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of River Fishogue.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether there is a proposal from the Laoighis County Council before his Department for the drainage of the River Fishogue under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949; if the proposal has been sanctioned, and, if not, when sanction will be given to undertake this work of extreme urgency; further, if he will state whether any and, if so, what arrangements are being made to have this work carried out in view of the necessity for relieving the flooding of lands and roadways in the area in question.

The revised proposals of the Laoighis County Council under the Local Authorities (Works) Act in relation to the Fishogue River have been approved in principle. It is a matter for the county council to decide whether to include the proposals in the programme of works under the Act to be submitted in connection with operations in the coming financial year.
