Vol. 129 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Rehabilitation Project Machinery.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (1) whether the machinery on order at the end of 1950 for the land rehabilitation project referred to on page 132 of the annual report of his Department for 1950-51 has yet been received; (2) what machinery was on order, and (3) what machinery has not yet been received.

Mr. Walsh

For the purpose of the reply to the Deputy's question, it is assumed that he refers to machinery which had been ordered prior to 31st December, 1950, and which had not been delivered up to the time of preparation in June, 1951, of the material published in the annual report of my Department for 1950-51.

On 31st December, 1950, the following machinery was on order:—

Thirty-two excavators of different makes.

Ten smaller type tractors, both crawler and wheel type.

Equipment for tractors, such as angledozers and Hyster winches.

Sundry other equipment, such as mole-drain ploughs, subsoilers and parts for other machinery already delivered.

Delivery has been taken of all this machinery, with the exception of 15 excavators. Delivery is expected of all of the excavators by the end of June, 1952.

More power to your elbow.

Drain the land of politicians.
