asked the Minister for Justice whether he will consider requesting the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána to have an analysis made of the road accidents which have occurred in recent years to determine the number of such accidents which may be ascribed to (a) the inexperience of motor drivers, and (b) the consumption of intoxicating liquor by motor drivers, and any other factors that might suggest remedial measures.

Mr. Boland

The Commissioner's annual statistics of road traffic accidents have for a number of years past given detailed analyses of the causes of accidents. The statistics are not printed and placed on sale, but copies of them are supplied to the newspapers and to organisations and persons who ask for them.
