Vol. 130 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Child Inmates of Cork Home.

asked the Minister for Health if the practice followed in the Cork city home of insisting on the visible display of numbers on the clothing of children inmates has been discontinued.

The numbers referred to are presumably those incorporated in the mark placed on each article for the purposes of the stores system. Such numbers, I understand, never had reference to the individual child for whose use the clothing was intended but merely indicated the section of the institution to which the clothing was issued. I am informed that a stamp of smaller size than formerly is now in use, and that when used on clothing it is the practice to impress it on a part of each garment which is not visible during ordinary wear.
