The numbers of (a) milch cows and heifers in calf and (b) pigs in the country on 1st June, 1950, were 1,322,340 and 644,914 respectively. The corresponding numbers on 1st June, 1951, were 1,269,497 and 557,960. The total area under corn, root and green crops and flax on these dates was 1,756,636 and 1,705,347 statute acres respectively.
