Vol. 130 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state how many housing schemes (a) have been submitted to his Department by the Dublin County Council since June, 1951; (b) were sanctioned, and (c) are awaiting sanction and, further, the areas where the houses will be built.

(a) Proposals in connection with 14 housing schemes each containing three or more cottages were submitted to the Department since the 1st June, 1951.

(b) The proposals for seven of the schemes were approved and one was rejected.

(c) Proposals for six of the schemes either require revision or have been submitted in the later portion of the period in question and have not yet been approved.

In addition to the grouped schemes proposals for the erection of 20 single rural cottages were submitted to my Department during the period in question. All of those proposals have been approved.

The houses in the grouped schemes approved will be erected in the following areas:— Killalane; Darcystown; Balbriggan; Baldoyle; Stillorgan; Parslickstown; and Palmerstown Lower. The proposals not yet approved provide for the erection of houses in Glencullen; Ballykea; Newbarn; Kilsallaghan; Cabra; Blanchardstown and Rathfarnham. The single rural cottages will be provided on sites throughout the county.
