asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate when the cleaning of the river at Adrigole to minimise recurrence of flooding will commence, in view of the fact that the scheme has been approved for two years under the Local Authorities (Works) Acts, 1949.

The county council have had discretion in the two financial years since this work was approved to determine the particular approved works to be undertaken with the aid of the grant allocation. They have not included this work in their programme in either year. I am not in a position to indicate whether or when the work will be undertaken.
