Vol. 130 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Seed Wheat Supplies.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that there is a shortage of suitable varieties of seed wheat in Cork; and, if so, if he will state what steps he is prepared to take to have supplies of good quality seed made available.

I am aware that there is a shortage of certain varieties of seed wheat in some areas. This does not mean, however, that there is any general shortage of seed. If merchants who are unable to supply their customers' requirements of a particular variety communicate with my Department every effort will be made to put them in touch with a source of supply of the variety required or of a suitable alternative variety.
