Vol. 130 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Fishing Boat Prices.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will explain why the motor fishing boats built by the Sea Fisheries Association have gone up £1,000 in price during the past 12 months.

Such increase as has taken place in the past 12 months in the cost of fishing boats built by the Sea Fisheries Association has been due to higher cost of engines, machinery and various boat-building materials, together with increases in the wages of the boat-building personnel.

Arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply, in view of the increased cost, would he recommend to the Sea Fisheries Association that they should accept a smaller deposit than the 10 per cent. now demanded?

That is a question, I think, that had best be deferred until the new board has been set up.
