Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wheat, Tea and Sugar Requirements.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total quantity (in tons) of wheat, tea and sugar required to meet the annual requirements of the population of the Republic, under present conditions of consumption.

The figures exclusive of the quantities required for the manufacture of goods for export, are as follow:—

Wheat

433,000 tons

Tea

10,000 tons

Sugar

110,000 tons

The abolition of flour and bread rationing and the introduction of a uniform extraction rate of 80 per cent. in July next is expected to increase the user of wheat to 452,000 tons in a full year.
