Vol. 131 No. 12

Written Answers. - Insurance Benefit Recipients.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state for each of the years 1950-51 and 1951-52 the number of persons or the weekly average number of persons who received (a) national health insurance benefit; (b) unemployment benefit and (c) unemployment assistance, and if he will state further the average weekly rate of benefit or the weekly average amount of assistance paid under (a), (b) and (c) during each of these years.

As the reply to the Deputy's question is mainly in the form of a tabular statement, I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

STATISTICS for National Health Insurance are compiled on the basis of benefit years (which approximate to calendar years). Final figures for 1950 and 1951 are not yet available but estimates for those years have been made as follows:—
