Vol. 134 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Health Act, 1947.

asked the Minister for Health if it is his intention to introduce proposals for legislation designed to repeal those provisions of the Health Act, 1947, which are believed to be unconstitutional, and provisions for the repeal of which were included in the Health Bill introduced by the last Government; and, if so, if he will indicate those provisions and state when it is intended that such proposals will be introduced.

Proposals for the amendment of the Health Act, 1947, will be introduced in the present session. I am not prepared to indicate in detail at this stage the precise nature of these proposals.

Is the Minister in a position to say whether the proposals are on the same lines as the Health Bill of 1951 or 1950?

They will all be considered.

Is the Minister free at this stage to say whether the Bill he is about to introduce is on the same lines?

I could not say that.

When does the Minister propose to introduce the Bill?

Before the end of the session.

Before Christmas?

Does that mean that it will be circulated before Christmas?

I suppose so.
