Vol. 134 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Appointment of Kilmacow Postman.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state why a person who was acting auxiliary postman at Kilmacow for six months was not appointed and furnish the name and address of the person appointed and the reasons for selecting him in preference to a person who filled the post up to the time the appointment was made.

Mr. Tracey was employed in a purely temporary capacity pending the filling of a vacancy for auxiliary postman.

When the vacancy was being filled on a quasi-permanent basis the local employment exchange was asked, in accordance with usual practice, to submit a list of persons suitable for employment and the claims and qualifications of these persons, together with those of Mr. Tracey, were examined. Mr. Michael Kinsella, Miltown, Kilmacow, was considered the most suitable and was appointed.
