Joint Committee on Transport and Communications to discuss Speed Limit Reductions in Urban Areas / RSA Road Safety Strategy

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 1 March, to discuss Speed Limit Reductions in Urban Areas and the Road Safety Authority’s (RSA) 2021-2030 Strategy at 11am in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House. 

The Committee will hear from the Road Safety Authority’s Chief Executive Sam Waide and Michael Rowland, Director Road Safety, Research and Driver Education, Lorraine D’Arcy from the Technological University (TU) Dublin, and Muireann O’Dea and Joan Swift from Love 30, the Campaign for 30 km/h Speed Limits in Ireland.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Kieran O’Donnell said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to hear from the Road Safety Authority on their continuance to promote safe road user behaviour as well as their new 10 year Strategy targeting a 50% reduction in road deaths and serious injuries by 2030  and the Love 30 campaign’s ongoing work to improve road safety through the lowering of speed limits.”
