Vol. 134 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification: North Kerry.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the advantages which would be conferred on the persons residing in the areas concerned, he will request the Electricity Supply Board to extend the rural electrification scheme to those areas in North Kerry which have not already come within the scope of the scheme.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the extension of the rural electrification scheme to those areas in North Kerry which have not already been developed is continually under consideration. The areas of Listowel and Lixnaw have been considered for selection but have not so far qualified in competition with other areas in the district. The Ballydonohue (Lisselton) area is at present under investigation and it is expected that the canvass will be completed before the end of the year and that the result will be ready for consideration by the board early in 1953. The board cannot at this stage say when it will be possible to carry out an official canvass of the Ballylongford area.
