Vol. 134 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Issue of Service Medal.

asked the Minister for Defence if a service medal had been issued to a person in Knocknagoshel, County Kerry; and, if so, what qualifications he possessed to entitle him to such a medal, the date of issue, and whether the recipient qualified for a special allowance.

A service (1917-1921) medal was issued to the person in question on the 17th July, 1952. The medal was awarded to him in respect of his continuous membership of Fianna Éireann during the three months ended on the 11th July, 1921. It does not render him eligible for a special allowance under the Army Pensions Acts, as the application was not made on or before the 30th January, 1950.
