Vol. 134 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Limerick Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the lands known as Murphys, Firceile, Murroe, County Limerick, have been offered to the Land Commission for afforestation purposes; and, further, that adjoining this estate there are a number of uneconomic holders; and, if so, if he will consider having an inspection carried out to ascertain if any of this land is suitable for division so as to bring the smallholders adjoining up to an economic standard.

The forestry division has been offered the greater part of the lands of Mr. A. Murphy, Forkeala, Murroe, County Limerick, for afforestation. As the lands offered are of poor quality it is doubtful whether any of them would be suitable for what the Deputy has in mind. However, if the lands are acquired, the Land Commission will be given the opportunity of deciding whether they require any of them.
