Vol. 135 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Teachers' Remuneration.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that secondary and vocational married men teachers are remunerated to the extent of £120 more per annum at the highest point in the normal scale than national teachers; and, if so, if he will state if it is his intention to award the same basic scale to all teachers—national, vocational and secondary.

The highest point on the salary scale for married men secondary teachers, including the minimum basic salary payable by the school is £770. This is also the highest point on the scale for married men vocational teachers. The highest point on the scale for married men national teachers is £650. It is not my intention to award the same scale to all teachers, national, vocational and secondary.
