Vol. 135 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Production Costs.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state if, as a result of the meeting of the Milk Production Costs Committee with him on Wednesday, 26th November, interest on capital and farm management charges have now been included as an integral portion of costs of milk production.

Mr. Walsh

At the recent meeting which I had with the Milk Production Costs Committee it was agreed by the members of the committee that the costing principles to be followed in the report on the cost of milk production would be decided by the committee as a whole, or failing that, by a majority of the members; each member being free to make such comments on the report later, as he thinks fit.

Why does the Minister not accept Deputy Dillon's advice and tell the costs committee to take a running jump at themselves?

The statement asks a specific question whether interest on capital and farm management charges have been included in the costs of production by the Minister, and there has been no answer to that question.

Mr. Walsh

The Minister gives no direction. It is a matter for the committee.
