Since June, 1952, 39 applications were received for new tariffs or quantitative restrictions on imports, of which eight were successful,13 were refused, and the remaining applications are under consideration. In addition, during the same period duties were imposed in 17 cases where applications had been made before June, 1952, and in a further eight cases duties which had been suspended were restored.
